Aug 14, 2016 Hey everybody! Back for the third edition of Athlete vs Artist at Sx80. In our previous installments MJ topped Kanye in Chicago and Jay-Z handily bested Derek Jeter for NYC. This time, I want to see who is the best representative of New Orleans. Who is more important and influential to the culture of the city and who reps the city better, overall? This time, we will be comparing one of the greatest and most inventive rappers of all time. He is the undeniable king of New Orleans as far as music goes, with some of the most wildly creative flows and wordplay. He's best known for his Tha Carter series, as well as many famous mixtapes like Da Drought, Dedication, and No Ceilings. The artist is none other than: Lil Wayne On the athlete side, we have one of the greatest statistical quarterbacks of all time. This man is an absolute stat monster, putting up a gaudy amount of touchdowns and yards every single year. He has thrown for over 4,000 yards every year since 2006 (with multiple 5,000 yard seasons) and will go down in the record books as one of the greatest statistical quarterbacks ever, in the same league as Brady and Manning. He is class personified. However, his greatest accomplishment and reason he is so beloved to New Orleans has to be the fact that he brought a Superbowl home to the city after the devastating events of Katrina. He is none other than: Drew Brees. Both men are great and very respected in their fields, but the question remains: Athlete, or Artist?
Aug 15, 2016 Oh, hey! Don't respond all at once everybody. Don't want this thread to get too lively lol. Is there a reason you say that? I feel like Brees bringing them a SB after Katrina gives him a pretty solid edge.
Aug 15, 2016 It's just simply that whenever I think of New Orleans, I think of Weezy I guess. He reps his city hard and is as well known as they come. That and I'm not a big follower of NFL so I guess I'm not well versed in Brees' impact.
