Dec 2, 2016 The man who fatally shot ex-Jets running back Joe McKnight was released from custody early Friday without being charged. Ronald Gasser, 54, shot McKnight in a fit of road rage outside New Orleans Thursday afternoon, police say. The investigation is ongoing. A witness said that Gasser, who is white, shot McKnight, 28, more than once and at one point stood over him and said “I told you don’t f--k with me” before shooting him again. McKnight was not armed, police say, and Gasser remained at the scene after the shooting and gave his gun over to police. Gasser’s family said that they couldn’t believe that the telecommunications expert was capable of such an act. Joe McKnight had big heart and big dreams while with Jets “He’s the best guy, the most generous guy,” Gasser’s sister, Sharon Weileman, told NOLA.com. “I have no idea what happened. I can’t even talk right now.” “I’m speechless at the moment,” Gasser’s daughter, Candice Gasser-Bua, told NOLA.com. “I’m still trying to wrap my head around what happened.” Gasser, residents told NOLA.com, moved into his father’s house in Gretna, La., about 15 years ao. He continued to live in the one-story brick house following his father’s death last year. Locals, who declined to be identified, said that Gasser lived alone in the home. “He seemed to be a loner,” one resident told NOLA.com. “I never saw anyone else coming or going out of there.” Antonio Cromartie, McKnight's former teammate with the Jets, was dismayed to learn that Gasser was released without being charged. "I don't get it. How in h--- do you release someone who killed my brother, my friend a father a son a brother without charging him. Bull Crap," he tweeted. "You tell (me) how can a man murder someone go get to sleep in his bed at night," Cromartie added. "But my brother can't. What the h--- am I to tell my nephew."
Dec 2, 2016 Just a sad story all around. I read yesterday that McKnight was at fault for starting the altercation, but hard to believe he could've really threatened Gasser w/o a firearm to the point where he felt it was necessary to s---t him in the street. Hopefully we get more details soon.
Dec 2, 2016 For this guy to stand over him after he already shot him once, yell at him not to f--- with him, then s---t him again while he's on the ground is not self defense. He executed him.
Dec 2, 2016 Yeah that's f----- up for sure, idk how the f--- he managed to get off without some kind of charge.
Dec 2, 2016 Louisiana has two extremes racist whites to project African-Americans Theres no middle ground over there and the ppl in power are the racist whites hence y this aint surprising
Dec 3, 2016 so a guy dressed in black, gets another man in orange on his knees, then shoots the guy in orange in the back of the head. it's an execution, this is an international crime against humanity, NATO are involved, Terrorists are to blame, "the middle east must be bombed!" An american gets into a road-rage fueled argument and shoots a man, then stands over him saying "dont f--- with me" before shooting him again. This is not an execution, this was self defense. Also, I don't get it. Why didn't this guy just pull out his own gun and defend himself? America definitely needs more guns so those who are unarmed can defend themselves in situations like this.
