A mediocre year for US rap in 2016 with many big artists producing mediocre albums and there being a real lack of innovation

However in the UK new acts and some truly classic/memorable releases over the past couple years has seen it become more popular over seas. Rather than just a brief trend its due to one thing.

UK rap is currently of a higher quality than US rap

Being around the music and around the culture inst the same as taking a keen interest, understanding the music and understanding the technical aspects of rap and music as a whole UK, US or globally.

Example: There are people in the UK who have listened to american hip hop and been immersed in that culture there whole life and will have a more credible opinion than people born US who also listen to Hip Hop maybe because they've listened to more artists maybe they understand the technical aspects of music more, maybe they understand the history better ect ect

and what do you mean by do you?

i wouldnt say it is overtaking the US, but show me an American 18 year old rapper that can challenge Dave, i mean he has one of the best EP's from 2016 imo, a remix with drake, conscious bars, sooooooo much potential
