Feb 22, 2015 we can talk about it here. Awards start at 5:30 p.m. PST (8:30 p.m. EST/01:30 UTC) Nominations Below
Feb 22, 2015 like a 68/100. It's good, nothing memorable kinda like Nightcrawler. Just one of those movies that will slip into obscurity down the road.
Feb 22, 2015 Boyhood is way overrated, the story was very basic, rest of the movies were good. Birdman IMO should win it, Whiplash blew me away but not sure if it's deserving of best picture. Hope Keaton wins best actor too but he has some real tough competition.
Feb 22, 2015 Birdman feels like a Best Picture winner in that it's a perfectly solid movie, but doesn't hold up to the scrutiny that comes with the lofted status of "Best Picture of the Year" (see Argo, The Artist). And like Argo and The Artist, it's a movie about movies and Hollywood clearly loves to congratulate itself.
Feb 22, 2015 Birdman's great and would be a worthy winner, I personally like Whiplash just as much though. My pick would be Boyhood though, brilliant film.
Feb 22, 2015 Out of a misplaced sense of completism, I watched The Imitation Game and The Theory of Everything this past week. I didn't actually hate them as expected (competent but forgettable), but this is how I rank the Best Pic nominees. Boyhood The Grand Budapest Hotel Selma Birdman American Sniper Whiplash The Theory of Everything The Imitation Game I'm with @Dew on Whiplash
