    I don't know thaat much about AIPAC, but is it controversial to say that Israel-America links are based partly on Jewish capital? Because that's the mainstream view in the rest of the world (at least the parts I have experience in, Europe and the Middle East). Why are parts of twitter going crazy?

    Definitely could come across that way. It’s a bad word choice at the very least. I mean, it’s no secret that Israel lobbies in the United States which corresponds with $$$. That’s the point I think she was trying to make. It’s what progressive democrats like herself constantly speak out against, money in politics.

    This is what’s called a manufactured controversy. Really telling how much influence AIPAC has when theres this much backlash for calling out their influence on politicians.

    Did you even read my post at all? I said, it could come off that way. She has a bit of a history of making debatably anti-semetic comments. It was a bad word/quote choice which she even apologized for herself. Glad she did, next time she can do better & we can move on because this isn’t that serious.

    Criticizing Israel is not anti-semitic. However, there are a lot of people who want to make it that way. I know Chuck was trying to sponsor a bill that would make it illegal to protest against Israel which would have been insane imo. I think the bigger issue here is that Omar is a problem for Dems and Republicans.

    It’s not about entertaining bad faith arguments. Yeah, idiots like Ben Shapiro will blow this out of proportion but that doesn’t mean politicians shouldn’t be more self-aware of the public statements they make. I don’t think she meant to insult anyone but if some people could have perceived it the wrong way, it’s better to just apologize for the misunderstanding, clarify your point & move on.

    Two things at play:

    The new progressives are inexperienced and proving to sometimes be a distraction. We have to resist this kind of bs if we want to retake the White House. It’s fun the base is energized but it clearly can be navigated incorrectly

    The GOP is playing games. f--- them and their faux outrage.

    Yeah, I'd hate for people to get distracted and take notice of AIPAC's lobbying or Elliot Abram's legacy of blood in South America. FOH

    As one of few congress people with agreeable foreign policy who happens to have a seat on the foreign affairs committee, I think this is exactly what she should be doing. Bringing the Israel lobby and Abram's legacy of crimes against humanity into the conversation is a net positive. Valiant behavior considering the consensus around this s---. Hence why pretending this is a partisan attack, which your comment did, is incorrect.

    Putting winning elections before standing for the right things is a dead meme. Kys
