Dec 22, 2017 I’m not entirely sure if a thread like this had been made* but in hindsight it seriously intrigues me where you guys think his direction would’ve went after releasing relapse and relapse 2? Especially if critics loved the album and fans saw that since 2007 he was actually already far into his concept with whole the ‘extreme slim shady serial killer’ theme. To recap: If relapse was well received and we got relapse 2, what direction do you think he would’ve taken (if he didn’t retire) this far down the line? Would we still get this “safe” eminem that is clearly influenced heavily but label execs? Or would we get an angry, warning style shot style eminem at trumps throat?
Dec 22, 2017 It's a good question, not having two consecutive albums critically panned..... he might have ended up a very different artist.
Dec 22, 2017 Hard to say, but we probably would have gotten a smooth flow Eminem minus the accents considering he even knew the accents were bad before the backlash on them. i.e. The Warning. But because everyone sh---ed on Relapse he reinvented himself, and its been down hill from there.
Dec 22, 2017 It’s a d--- shame we didn’t get relapse 2. If we would have his music today would be way different.
Dec 22, 2017 For the millionth time... "The best of the best" from Relapse 2 were the songs on Refill with the exception of Forever. That came straight from the man that produced every single song from Relapse sessions.
Dec 22, 2017 That was during the King Mathers sessions in 2006 or 2007. Regardless that's r-----ed f---ing thunking to assume anything Eminem makes is good or not good based on who produced it alone.
Dec 22, 2017 All interesting replies. I personally think if relapse and recovery weren’t panned we wouldn’t get this overly technical eminem where the only thing he thinks he’s good at is his technical flow and rhyme schemes. Walk on water seriously proves how badly we stripped his confidence and I’m guessing so did the label execs. I think a return to form is very unlikely but I’d love to be proved wrong!
Dec 23, 2017 He said he recorded over 100 songs but cut them down to 2 albums. Refill was cut down 2nd album then. I want the rest of the songs.
Dec 23, 2017 If Relapse was well received, we most likely wouldn’t have gotten the yelling, the corny punchlines and the horrible production. So to anyone who s--- on it, I hope you’re happy.
Dec 23, 2017 Stringer Bell, boy, my name rings bells for itself, I'm sick as h---, boy, better run and tell someone else
Dec 23, 2017 well if he changed his style after the relapse backlash then the f--- wouldn't he change it again after 3 more s-----y albums? What's it gonna take for his to realise this new style is even worse
Dec 23, 2017 Relapse was the most like his old albums. With dre beats and him doing the hooks with the skits and everything
Dec 23, 2017 I just want someone to tell Em Relapse was one of his best albums so he can feel good about it
