May 20, 2015 What would you guys say are the best films from each decade? 20s- The General 30s- Gone With the Wind 40s- Citizen Kane 1950s- Singin' in the Rain 1960s- 2001: A Space Odyssey 1970s- Godfather Part II 1980s- The Shining 1990s- Goodfellas 2000s- Memento 2010s- Birdman What would your list's look like?
May 20, 2015 1980s- Raiders of the Lost Ark or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Idk about the other decades tbh :;'(:
May 20, 2015 20s- The Phantom Carriage 30s- Angels With Dirty Faces 40s- Double Indemnity 1950s- Rear Window 1960s- The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly 1970s- The Exorcist 1980s- Raging Bull 1990s- Terminator 2 2000s- Gangs of New York 2010s- Boyhood (even though it took 12 years to make, it was released last year)
May 20, 2015 I almost put Raging Bull for the 80s, and I wasn't blown away by Boyhood, loved the first half, but really couldn't stand the second half of the movie, specifically when he started middle school. The character became so apathetic and unlikable, and the plot was virtually nonexistent. Just my opinion though.
May 20, 2015 Yea, I started to put 12 Years a Slave, but thought of Boyhood at the last second..I just enjoyed it a little bit more
May 20, 2015 50s - The Thing 60s - Psycho 70s - Texas Chainsaw Massacre 80s - The Empire Strikes Back 90s - Terminator 2 00s - The Dark Knight i havnt seen any earlier then the 50s
May 20, 2015 Almost picked Psycho and Empire. TDK was prob one of my favorites from the 2000s, but I didn't think the best.
May 20, 2015 The Dark Knight is probably in my top 5 favorite movies OAT i know its a pretty unpopular opinion but i just love it
May 20, 2015 this is an INCREDIBLY safe list, lol. not to suggest you don't really believe it/these aren't great films. but wow.
May 20, 2015 I mean this list is incredibly different than my favorite films from each decade. These are just the best in my opinion. But none of these would be my favorite from the decade save maybe Space Odyssey or Singin' in the Rain.
May 20, 2015 20s - Metropolis (Only other one I've seen is Nosferatu IIRC) 30s - The Wizard of Oz (Only one I've seen IIRC) 40s - Citizen Kane (The only other one I've seen is Casablanca IIRC) 50s - The Seventh Seal (Still need to see lots of Hitchcock & Kurosawa) 60s - Dr. Strangelove... (Still need to finish the Dollars trilogy and 2001) 70s - The Conformist (Haven't seen Godfather II) 80s - Videodrome 90s - Before Sunrise 00s - There Will Be Blood 10s - Not caught up but The Master, Amour, and Under the Skin are all in the running Bolded my probable top 4 all time.
May 20, 2015 I will play along... 20s- The Crowd 30s- Modern Times 40s- The Third Man 1950s- Ikiru 1960s- Persona 1970s- Taxi Driver 1980s- The Shining 1990s- Close-Up 2000s- Mulholland Dr. 2010s- The Tree of Life
May 20, 2015 Rear Window (one of my favorites), Strangers on a Train, and Rope. Started Psycho once, but didn't finish it for some reason.
May 20, 2015 I just meant the series in general. Should have put The Shining because I like it more. Not a huge IJ or SW fan to be honest... Just think of the 80s as teen comedies and blockbusters.
May 20, 2015 psycho is pretty easy to get into, unless that's why you didn't finish it. i'd say north by northwest is his most accessible other than that, and still one of his best. birds might be my favorite. i don't know if vertigo stands head and shoulders ahead like some people do but it's probably his best imo.
