I almost put Raging Bull for the 80s, and I wasn't blown away by Boyhood, loved the first half, but really couldn't stand the second half of the movie, specifically when he started middle school. The character became so apathetic and unlikable, and the plot was virtually nonexistent. Just my opinion though.

Almost picked Psycho and Empire. TDK was prob one of my favorites from the 2000s, but I didn't think the best.

I mean this list is incredibly different than my favorite films from each decade. These are just the best in my opinion. But none of these would be my favorite from the decade save maybe Space Odyssey or Singin' in the Rain.

20s - Metropolis (Only other one I've seen is Nosferatu IIRC)
30s - The Wizard of Oz (Only one I've seen IIRC)
40s - Citizen Kane (The only other one I've seen is Casablanca IIRC)
50s - The Seventh Seal (Still need to see lots of Hitchcock & Kurosawa)
60s - Dr. Strangelove... (Still need to finish the Dollars trilogy and 2001)
70s - The Conformist (Haven't seen Godfather II)
    80s - Videodrome
    90s - Before Sunrise
00s - There Will Be Blood
10s - Not caught up but The Master, Amour, and Under the Skin are all in the running

Bolded my probable top 4 all time.

You would put Star Wars over Empire? Great list nonetheless. Love Dr. Strangelove!

Rear Window (one of my favorites), Strangers on a Train, and Rope.
Started Psycho once, but didn't finish it for some reason.

I just meant the series in general.
Should have put The Shining because I like it more.
Not a huge IJ or SW fan to be honest...
Just think of the 80s as teen comedies and blockbusters.

psycho is pretty easy to get into, unless that's why you didn't finish it. i'd say north by northwest is his most accessible other than that, and still one of his best. birds might be my favorite. i don't know if vertigo stands head and shoulders ahead like some people do but it's probably his best imo.
