    I expected the Sabres to lose the lottery, but d--- it sure would have been nice to draft first and get McDavid. Two years in a row they've finished last and two years in a row they get the 2nd pick. Eichel will be a great player, but McDavid is on another level.

    f---ing Oilers with the first pick for the fourth time in six years, ridiculous. At least Toronto didn't win the lottery though, that would've ruined my night.

    Not only have I watched my franchise miss the playoff 9 years in a row, I've watched them be bottom feeders and check out of playoff contention before Christmas.

    And I haven't followed them as they went through this, I watched. So as sad as this is to type, moments like this are what we cheer for. This is elation for me bro.

    There was a lot of talk about the Bruins having interest in him, not that they had s--- to give up.

    Yeah man, good for you guys. If getting McDavid doesn't finally turn the Oilers back into a contender then I gotta think they're cursed. They will be good though. They started to show signs of it towards the end of this season, and now you get the best prospect since Crosby. Congrats.

    For the record though, being a Buffalo sports fan my whole life has been awfully disappointing too.

    I love it. I just didn't want to see him as a Leaf. Getting him in an Oilers jersey is a the icing on the cake (which is an understatement, but wow).

    Imagine a year from now, a top line of Hall - McDavid - Yakupov.

    Not a huge Yak fan. Him and Roy clicked well so I'd probably keep them together as a 2nd or 3rd line. With McDavid in, I'd love to see either Nuge or Draisatl switch to their natural wing. Nuge has come into his own as a centre but Draisatl is that big centre once he matures that every team loves to have.

    I don't think Draisaitl has the foot speed to be effective at wing. He's great at centre because he has the ability to slow the pace of the game to his speed.

    I wouldn't mind Nuge at wing, but I would love for the team to take advantage of this centre depth like Pittsburgh did with Crosby, Malkin, and Staal.

    Oh and I love Yak, he's just not a first overall - realistically, Galchenyuk was the guy to take that year. But that's a player I don't want to give up on either, he has more value to us than any return he would net does. I believe he turned a corner this year, and I want to see him develop and pan out.

    I like what Todd Nelson brings to the team, but if Mcdavid coming to Edmonton brings interest in someone like Mike Babcock, the Oilers HAVE to bring him in. I worry that the boys club won't share that mindset though.

    Oilers fans deserve this but the management doesn't, I swear I'm gonna be sick when I see MacTavish and Lowe mugging next to McDavid in a photo op

    I hope getting this once-a-decade kind of talent makes the Oilers an NHL team again, if not then nothing will
