So I'm supposed to be asleep right now but I couldn't get to sleep due to this question.

So they dated for about 4? Months before breaking up and he was devestated (she's pretty cute). He's one of my closest friends but lately I've been spending a lot of time with his ex and we do some pretty constant flirting with each other.

So would it be okay for me to date her or would that be a dog move?

Don't do it threee, that's a d-ck move. But you could probably f--- her just keep it lowkey. If you date everyone will find out if you just mess around, nobody will. But your best bet is to just find another girl to date

And are you sure she's not just using you as a way to make her ex jealous?

There's about a 1 in a thousand chance this girl is 'the one' (or whatever other stupid term you want to use) but your closest friends usually end up staying as your closest friends and become very important in your life, so whether it's right or wrong, either way i would say it would be a bad decision logically anyway...

I mean maybe he'll still be your friend either way but it'll definitely lose some trust and make things a bit awkward....

id say before you do anything ask your mate if hes okay with it, and go from there, if he says no then back off and respect him, if he says go for it, happy hunting :emoji_wink:

Friends exes are almost always a no, especially considering she's the one that broke up with him.

If you do want to date her, then be prepared to lose that friend permanently. I'm not saying that's how it'll play out, but that's the likely scenario.

Sounds terrible, but smashing once or twice and then cutting ties is the better alternative.

I did it, and justified it because he was the one who broke up with her. I don't regret it, but it did kinda f--- up our friendship. Years later, we're good now...in fact, he's about to be an usher in my wedding (I'm marrying a different woman lol).

I guess what I'm saying is it depends on the situation. Sounds like a much riskier move in your case since he was "devastated", can't imagine he'd take it well

I wouldn't unless they were OK with it. From the sounds of OP he won't be OK with it. If he's one of your closest friends, don't f--- that up over a girl. If their break up was rough it's possible she's using you, too.

People have a tendency to say they are 'okay with it' because it's not cool to still be hung up on your ex, or show you have any sort of feelings for her. People sometimes lie to themselves and others to keep their pride. He said he was devastated, why would you even consider doin' that?

    Just don't go there.
