Jul 31, 2015 I can respect the concept and it made me chuckle a couple of times. It can be either funny, cringe, or both depending on who's watching it
Jul 31, 2015 yes it was i honestly dont understand how you can worship these slurring wacked out medium talents (future is, like, dylan thomas, the praise you give him)... but a different artist like dicky can be swiftly dismissed out of hand lol. three demerits
Jul 31, 2015 He has white rapper syndrome. We go to the same meetings. It's like white guilt but cooler. Nah, but everybody has their tastes and Paul can justify his as well as anybody.
Jul 31, 2015 honestly though, as much as i make fun of other white rappers, dicky really does rub me the wrong way w/r/t race. like, when the black rappers in this video are these hulking dudes with chains on and he's like "you people don't know how to be vulnerable!" i think that kind of attitude runs through his music, and when you couple it with that obtuseness about his "struggle," it feels really, really gross to me.
Jul 31, 2015 i'm not saying this on anyone's behalf, i'm saying it makes ME feel disgusted. (although your post makes no sense, because people can and should consider how things will read to people outside of their race/gender, but that's another discussion.)
Jul 31, 2015 That exact part rubbed me the wrong way. While you're completely right, I think intent is 9/10ths of the law. I also think his self-branded comedy does diffuse the situation enough to forgive him. Go watch Malibu's Most Wanted and tell me it's racist propaganda. I mean, the foundation for comedy is expectations versus reality and being a white rapper is a suitable vehicle for it. I think he's harmless even when he slips into foul territory.
