    still not ready to put sslp ahead of mmlp but I'd still put both ahead of TES :idk:

    starting to see more & more people with sslp as their #1 tho

    Mmlp but not 'easily' or 'no doubt'. For me they're really, really close.

    i really like the production on the SSLP but MMLP as a whole is better.

    mmlp and it’s not even remotely close. by 2000 Eminem had increased his skills tenfold, not to mention the production >>>>>>>. mmlp was like sslp on steroids. Em knew this, as he made pretty clear in his book The Angry Blonde

    The more I learned about music, the more comfortable I felt behind the microphone and the more I could slip into character. It got to a point where I wasn’t just worried about getting the rhyme out and sayin’ it, I was worried about my pronunciation, about saying s--- with authority, or even sometimes saying it softly. I learned to play with my voice. I made it do more things that I didn’t really know it could do. After The Slim Shady LP and Dr. Dre’s Chronic album, I simply had more experience behind the mic.

    On The Marshall Mathers LP I upgraded everything. Flow, rhyme character, and the whole shebang. […] I may rap about stuff that other rappers don’t, but at the end of the day I’m always my own worst critic. I’m always listening to my own s---. When I listen to my songs now, I’ll stress myself, thinking, “I could’ve spit that line better. I should’ve done that vocal over, I should’ve done that verse over”.* Even the little things like “I could’ve popped that ‘P’ better on the mic”. I listen to songs, thinking, “Yeah, it was cool that I came up with that idea to say that, but I didn’t execute that rhyme right.” There’ll always be that one f---in’ word that no one would normally hear, but I hear it.

    *he’s talking about sslp, of course. with mmlp he made sure everything was perfect so that he could listen to it a million times and not find one flaw in it (his words in a 2000 interview).

    let’s not any of us pretend to have a sharper ear for music than eminem in his absolute prime, where he literally couldn’t make a bad song if he tried.
