Aug 25, 2017 I think it's a double edged sword, but now that some of the major sites are shutting down I feel like it's a good time to discuss this topic at hand with people really involved in the community. Some of the sites that've shut down now. http://www.viperial6.com http://www.im1-music.com https://www.albumkings.com http://www.audiocastle2.info There's more obviously but I can't be bothered linking them, and in my honest opinion I think people will never completely pay for music. There's no way in h--- that will ever happen, so whats your opinions on things like this?
Aug 25, 2017 What is your question? Is piracy okay? I mean its essentially theft. With that being said I should have the freedom to share something in private w/ you no matter what it is but its not the same as lending a friend a DVD its like taking a dvd, making a million copies and giving them out for free. So no piracy is not okay but who gives a s---?
Aug 25, 2017 I honestly feel like it's an important factor in our freedom online, I think the labels have always taken the incorrect approach in removing content from the internet with pure threats and almost no actual understanding. As someone who's dabbled around in this s--- from the uploading and downloading side of things I can speak on labels approach very well. They simply don't care about anything other then money/ Secondly I think that the ability to stream tracks on various platforms like Apple Music and Spotify (with ease across all devices) is really making a dent in the need to download tracks, this is the approach that should have been taken from the start. Essentially I think it will never go away completely, alot of people don't have the money to pay for services like Apple Music, or Spotify. We'll see, regardless R.I.P Viperial, thank you for holding us down for almost 11 years.
Aug 28, 2017 Getting hard to find s--- randomly anymore that's for sure. I don't use torrents and a lot of the time these type of sites actually help me discover new s--- from some more unknown artists that I'm not seeing reviews or ads for new releases.
Aug 28, 2017 Availability of illegal music downloads has went down drastically just within the past 3-4 years
Aug 28, 2017 Piracy will just become harder to do but it will still be possible...There will always be a way to get recorded media for free either legally by the owner or illegally by stan in his basement...The Russians need jobs too so theres that also lol
Aug 28, 2017 I tired to get my sisters to start streaming music, outlining the benefits of streaming vs pirating, but they're reluctant to try something new and they don't want to pay 4.99 (they're students) to listen to music they can access for free.
Aug 30, 2017 i'll never fully commit to streaming because how do you expect to find up and coming or unsigned artist? I've never relied on radio or streaming sites to provide me the "newest" music. Not every artist has the ability or means to get their music on streaming services. Soundcloud is probably the closest thing I've seen that allows all artist to get their music streamed, but even now soundcloud is getting monopolized and being turned into a paid streaming service (or at least it was trying to). I don't know, I just don't feel these platforms provide the latest and greatest music to my liking. I like to hear artists before they get the big platforms.
