    a new lil wayne album, or at least something that resembles one, is out now. i won't listen to it. i have no desire to hear my favorite legends in deteriorated states. see also: ghostface.

    i'm going to use this thread to post great wayne songs, especially unheralded ones.

    jim jones and 8ball mjg freestyles are dope never heard them before.

    he seems to be better at freestyles than actual songs. sorry 4 the weight was alot better than the album

    i agree it's not a good line, but i don't think wayne is, or was, all that great. now he's not terrible either, i've definitely heard a lot worse. but i don't think wayne would be someone that people would praise if the discussion was about rappers who were really, really good at one point. sure, he was super popular at one point, but did that ever equal his talent on the MIC? i don't think so.

    first of all, that's not true. wayne is widely and consistently cited in exactly those discussions. second, he should be. at his peak, he's one of the greatest rappers to ever live. i would put this on the shortlist for "best verses of the 2000s":

    as far as "joke rap" is concerned, his music is certainly up there at the top (even tho is next closest competition is lonely island)

    to say he's not amusing is well, opinion, I guess. I got into him through the music videos and even without them, he's still good enough to listen to casually.

    don't really mind his racism at all, didn't think anyone did and don't see how it affects you lol like the outro for white dude brings genuine lol's. songs like sky hooks & Jewish flow show that his song making ability is definitely there

    thoughts on $ave dat money tho?

    it makes my skin crawl. you should move this to the dicky thread tho, this one is about wayne and his greatness.
