Definitely a weak card, star power wise. DJ/Reis getting canceled didn't do it any favors. Should be some good fights though

@redsoxx what are the other fights (besides the main event) to watch out for on this card? Only guys I've heard of are Reis & Brown.

Brown is a fun fighter, but Ellenburger has been getting pooped on for a few years now. Shouldn't be competitive. Rose and Karolina might be awful given the type of tepid performances they've both put out before. Worth watching given the winner will probably fight Joanna Champion. McCall is a great flyweight with terrible injuries and Scoggins could very well beat him. That might be a changing of the guard. I think Masvidal and Pearson could end up putting on a show out of nowhere. Both have some key losses coming into this, but it's usually dudes with nothing to lose and equal trajectories that just clique and make a decent scrap.

    My picks:
Woodley - Robbie is the type of fighter who gets old overnight.
Karolina - Rose just looked super mediocre versus Tecia.
    Brown - God hates Ellenburger.
Rivera - He's got significant cage time w/ better fighters than Perez.
Scoggins - McCall is held together with scotch tape.

Probably from Fox Sports Australia (don't ask why that's so specific lol). It's definitely the normal time on Saturday night in the states

Robbie Lawler (-175) vs Tyron Woodley (+155)

I'm going with the champ although i'm not super confident in it. I think Woodley could have success early and maybe stun Robbie (Charlie makes a good point about guys like Robbie getting old over night), but if he doesn't T-Wood will probably gas and I think Robbie ends up stopping him in the 4th.

Lawler's KO of Melvin Manhoef in Strikeforce, after getting lit up with brutal legs kick for the entire 1st round. Easily my favorite Robbie KO...

    Woodley's KO over Josh Koscheck

Rose Namajunas (-225) vs Karolina Kowalkiewicz (+185)

Taking Rose, she didn't look great Tecia, but if you're getting your back taken by Randa Markos like Karolina did in the 2nd round of their fight, then you're gonna have trouble with Rose. Im gonna take Rose by 2nd round submission.

Rose's flying armbar over Kathina Catron at Invacta FC 5

Matt Brown (-325) vs Jake Ellenberger (+265)

Hard to go with anything but Matt Brown by TKO. Ellenberger has been on a downward spiral since he was TKO'd in the Kampmann where he was winning decisively and that was 4 years ago. Brown notoriously has had trouble with grapplers, but Jake has been hit so many times that hes almost forgotten he was a wrestler. Maybe he tries to wrestle in this fight, but even then Brown could catch him in a guillotine or Triangle (his submission game is underrated).

    Brown vs Mike Swick

Ellenberger coming as close as anyone has to stopping Carlos Condit in his debut in 2009. Someone on reddit recently pointed out Jake getting hurt by the knee, which went over my head when i watched it live and any other time i watched the fight.

Erik Perez (-130) vs Francisco Rivera (+110)

Not really sure why Perez is the favorite here. Rivera is underrated, he was owning Faber in their fight before the eye poke and was robbed in his last fight against Pickett. Perez will try to get this fight to the ground but I don't think he'll be able to keep the fight there and Rivera has HEAVY hands. I think he Cisco takes the decision...

    Rivera vs Caceres

    Perez KO over Ken Stone

Justin Scoggins (-245) vs Ian McCall (+205)

McCall was the face of the FLW division prior to the UFC bringing in the division and not to take anything away from Scoggins but the odds on this fight are more telling of the McCall's injuries then anything. Scoggins is a beast though and came from the same camp in South Carolina that Wonderboy came out of. His kicks are unorthodox and nasty, i think he picks Ian apart and wins a decision.

McCall vs DJ 1. One of the dumbest things ive seen in the octagon, he had to opportunity to stop DJ there but didn't capitalize. This was a Semi-Final fight in the 4-man tournament to crown the FLW champ. The Australian Athletic Commission royally f----- the decision up in this fight, announcing that DJ won the fight and he would advance to the Finals. Then right after it came out that they added up the scores wrong (what a joke) and that the fight was really a draw. Thing about that though was that if it was ruled a draw, they were supposed to fight a Sudden Death round to see who advanced to the Finals. But of course it was too late for that and McCall basically got hosed as he had taken over the fight and nearly stopped DJ. Either way they rematched and DJ won pretty easily and hasn't lost a fight since.

Nikita Krylov (-170) vs Ed Herman (+150)

Krylov has sneakily put together a 4-fight win streak, while Ed has been pretty inactive only fighting 3 times in the last 32 months or so. He is coming off the win over TKO over Boetsch in January but he has fought the majority of his career at MW while Krylov has fought most of his career at HW. Im gonna take Krylov by TKO in the 1st, or he hurts Herman on the feet and takes his back and chokes him out.

Krylov's headkick vs Walt Harris at HW

Ed Herman vs Joe Doerksen back at UFC 78

Jorge Masvidal (-230) vs Ross Pearson (+190)

Masvidal should outclass Pearson here. Could see him mixing in TD's but either way i see this fight going the distance.

    Masvidal vs Cezar Ferreira

    Pearson's TKO of Gray Maynard

Anthony Hamilton (-130) vs Damian Grabowski (+110)

Another battle of the s--- tier HW's, probably lean Grabowski by submission.

Hamilton's headkick of Smealinho Rama back in the final days of the MFC

Wilson Reis (-320) vs Hector Sandoval (+260)

Don't know much about Sandoval other then he's a Team Alpha Male guy. But hes coming in on short notice and Reis has looked really good lately. Think Reis takes a decision.

Michael Graves (-235) vs Bojan Velickovic (+195)

Graves is a legit WW prospect out of ATT and Bojan is a huge WW and former RFA WW champ, who has won most of his fights by submission. I think Graves will grind out a decision.

Fredy Serrano (-125) vs Ryan Benoit (+105)

Serrano is a TUF Latin America vet who represented Colombia in the 08 Olympics in wrestling. Hes 36 years old though and gotten into MMA a little late, plus his wrestling has translated into his MMA game too well and hes had trouble disguising his TD"s. I think Benoit stops him with strikes in the 2nd or 3rd.

Serrano's uppercut KO over Bentley Syler

Damien Brown (-120) vs Cesar Arzamendia (+100)

Arzamendia is a TUF LA 2 vet and Brown is some Aussie with a 15-9 record who lost to Alan Patrick as a late replacement on the Hunt/Mir card. IDGAF about this fight, its loser leavestown for sure. Guess I'll take Brown by decision

I don't remember hearing about that sudden death thing with McCall. Interesting. I wish they would implement that into normal fights like they do with kickboxing. Even just a 3 minute round would be fine. Better than draws. Would make close title fights a lot more interesting as well. @redsoxx

Also, wtf is with people buying Chad Mendes' excuse about skin cream? Hilarious double standard.

They need to hire better guys to make these fight posters, looks like practically no effort was put into making it.

Anyways, hoping Lawler and Uncle Creepy win this weekend. Pretty indifferent about the rest (as in I don't care who wins as long as the fight is good) of the matches but based on @redsoxx's predictions/breakdowns it looks like it should be a fun night.

Yea for the inaugural FLW 4-man tourney they kinda have to do a Sudden Death round. But yea i hate draws and a 3 min round would make sense and wouldn't take too much time. I know the UFC has time constraints with the Prelims so they probably wouldn't do it, but draws s---.

Anyways Scoggins is officially out and hes moving up to BW. Another FLW prospect down smh...
