change likes system to ratings system?

    Note: winning the poll will not automatically add the option, i am merely interested in knowing the members opinions

    what if i added a way to change the likes system to ratings system, where you can either +1 a post or -1 a post...and if a post have -15 for example, it will be hidden fro view and you have to expand to view it...all your current likes will be converted to +ratings

    pros
    will probably be fun
    will add more options to handle a post

    cons
    can be abused
    might discourage some ppl to post


    so yeah, lets have an open discussion

    It's good because if i care about my points at all i will never post in the Eminem section to say a song is s--- or 400 members will dislike my posts. so it will contain me in sections where my posts are actually needed (off topic)

    edit: trolling artist sections wont happen as often because dislikes are there

    Yeah I said this in the beginning but I get the downside. But as staff you can intervene when its abused right? Like spacemonkey did on SL lol

    Voting yes

    Other upside: you don't have to quote when you don't like a post

    Downside: it can k--- discussion when someone can just dislikes a post without having to explain themselves

    It might be fun at first but long term it won't work

    The site is too cliquish in nature and the same people mass disliking every post of a user will become detrimental quickly

    The main focus of sectioneighty should be the creation of new, interesting content instead of giving numbers more attention.

    I would rather remove the whole like system and let users focus on the posts themselves. It's easier to like/dislike a post than to respond or create something better than what he/she did.

    So yeah, we need more content than numbers.

    That's not an upside mate, it rather makes people post less. That should never be the case for sectioneighty to be honest. You can say the same about likes too (for example making people kinda lazy to actively agree), which is why I would rather dump the whole system without any replacement.

    You gotta see the bigger picture m8
