I'm not really a big scary movie type of fan, I'm more of a comedy guy, but if there is more than 5 that you like/or wish to put down you may do so.

    - Scary Movie (Not really scary, more like comedy)
    - IT
    - Halloween
    - Paranormal Activity (Saw this for the first time, literally s--- my pants)
    - The Omen

im not really a big horror fan myself, but id recommend watching these ones dude, not the top 5 of all time but still good
the possession of michael king - this one was very intriguing to me because i dont believe in ghosts and all that bs and id be the one that does s--- like he does...
    insidious
    the conjuring
    house of 1000 corpses
    devils rejects

second 2 are great new age horror films that are sort of original idieas (not complete reboots)
last 2 are obvious classics in the horror genre... zombie has a movie coming out called 31 soon, look into it that s--- looks tight.
a nod to the vhs films only because i was with quite a few people watching those movies when i first saw them and mystery science theatre 3000' the f--- out of them had everyone in convulsions laughing so hard

also a good comedy horror is "a haunted house" laughed my a--- off at all the supporting roles in that move, dont watch the sequel tho or else youll think lower of me for liking the first one

Paranormal Activity 2 was EASILY the best of that series. 3 was ok up until the ending. Worst ending for a scary/horror movie of all time.

Favourite, so some might not be the scariest, top 5 is to hard for me. No order

    The Conjuring
    Halloween
    Scream/Scream 2
    Drag me to h---
    A Nightmare on Elmstreet
    The Ring
    Insidious
    Trick r Treat
    Paranormal Activity 2
    Housebound

Honorable Mentions: Exorcist, Nightmare on Elmstreet: New Nightmare, Freddy vs Jason, We Are What We Are, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Strangers, The Shining, Childs Play and I'm sure I forgot some.

@Zep did you really like Scream 3? I thought it was horrible. Liked Scream 4 a lot mor, not even close to the first 2 though.
