Same. I'm just glad Obama was willing to admit that funding/supplying Syrian Rebels wasn't working and is taking a different approach. The main issue with these militant groups that are fighting ISIS is that they aren't organized and don't have a strong sense of leader ship. Hopefully with U.S. special forces on the ground coordinating and backing them, they'll be more efficient.

why don't we just keep dropping bombs on them? I have mixed feelings about this but i don't feel confident sending troops over there with Obama in office

The U.S. led coalition has been conducting airstrikes on ISIS but airstrikes can only do so much. The rebel groups we've been funding/supplying and the Iraq Security Force who we trained for like a decade have been a huge upset on the ground. U.S. recently stopped the program that was funding rebel groups because it simply wasn't working, there needs to be a new approach. U.S. Special Forces were already operating in the region with hostage rescue missions and raids. They simply have more of a commanding position now. I feel much more confident with troops overseas with Obama in office than I did with Bush.

If anything, the U.S. will want to deal with ISIS before Assad. Assad is on his last limb, Russia is the only reason he's holding up at this point.

Assad's a better man than whoever is running ISIS. I know that's not saying much, but it's true.

True, he's the lesser of two evils but still.... We're talking about a guy who used chemical weapons against his own people lol. He isn't a "good guy" by any means.

Yeah I understand why they did it in a nutshell but yeah I get what your saying. And ehh I agree there too because I absolutely hated bush but I would feel more confident with say Trump in office in this situation because you know he would want casualties and lots of them and Obama is more of a neutralizer kind of guy

Trump has 0 knowledge about foreign policy issues or how to act as commander in chief. He's to negligent and would simply send our military in there and we'd probably end up causing a bigger mess than when we started. It'd be like Iraq/Afghanistan part 2 but worse.

I think people need to understand, there's no clear cut solution to the problems happening in the Middle East. We're still trying to figure out what works best and how to effectively combat terrorism over there. It's a process that the Obama administration is currently going through. We already tried having a big military presence over there (we were there for over a decade) and it really didn't solve many problems. ISIS is outnumbered in the region anyway so a huge U.S. ground troops presence really isn't necessary. Have to find that middle ground between assisting our allies in the region/military action and diplomatic resolution.

I actually think Trump would do better than Obama. At least Trump doesn't have an erection for r-----ed drone strikes that never k--- the intended target.

And Obama bombed a hospital. Who the f--- is a good guy? Nothing's sillier than looking at world politics with a good guy bad guy mentality. When has America supported a "good guy" in this region?

As for this news, hilarious. I hope these 50 special forces meet their fate asap in the desert so Americans can lose their s--- and support sending more troops and get drawn into a long endless conflict again like Iraq and Afgnanistan and Vietnam. 3 failures weren't enough maybe 4 and they'll start to see a pattern here

If you're trying to fight fire with fire you can't win these types of wars without mass murdering entire strongholds. That's why Empires actually won and conquered back in the days because they weren't being held down by the pussification of society we have today. That sort of thing can't be done by legit countries today. It can be done by rogue countries or organisations like Islamic State. Which is why they've gained so much ground. They aren't being held back by morality or political correctness

The only solution to this conflict apart mass slaughter is to turn the Sunni populations against IS because as it stands to Sunni civilians the Shia forces are actually worse to them than IS. IS isn't some supernatural force and if they lose the support of the people it's only a matter of time before they start collapsing and becoming an annoyance at best

Not that I'm against IS either they're the only ones actually fighting off the west and it's puppets

Have you seen him discuss foreign policy? He treats it like it's a video game.

You see, militaries typically have this thing called "chain of command" meaning, every single mission and order that's carried out doesn't have to go through the person at the top of the chain. Claiming "Obama bombed a hospital" is false and is simply an edgy statement to try to provoke a reaction.

I never supported the Iraq/Afghan wars to begin with and I don't want a huge US military presence back in the Middle East either but it's not like the U.S. can just say "f--- it" and pick up and completely leave either. In terms of the U.S. supporting the "good guy" in the region, for the past 20 years our "good guy" in the region has constantly changed. Our actions in the Middle East have been a mess, I don't disagree with you there.
