I really don't understand. This is my least favorite Kanye album. The one with the worst productions.
I mean, what is so good about The New workout plan? Breath in Breath out? Get em High?
How is it better than any other album he dropped? How is it a classic?
I'm not trolling, really need an explanation :em55:

You kind of mentioned some of the weaker tracks with BIBO and NWP, most of it is pretty great. I prefer LR, MBDTF, 808 over it tho

The soul sampling is one reason why I love it.

Its my second least favourite album, even though i still love it
I think some people like it because you could argue that kanye was lyrically on top of his game then, it's also his most soulful album and even though it had more lows then most his albums, the highs were amazing.....

It was Kanye at his purist. The first album is like a culmination of the years grinding to make it to the show. Plus most of the tracks were fantastic.

Think about all the rap out at the time. New York dj premier style s---, and west coast dre s---. All of it was real grimy gangsta s---. Kanye came out like how drake is now, a radio friendly rapper who still has the g appeal cuz he's a black man from inner city Chicago but had a smoother softer sound without becoming vanilla ice esque sellout pop rap. The soul samples were hot and him and just blaze were the best at it so when he dropped his album he was hyped off of Jay songs and s--- only to have his own cleaner style. And then you have to consider how songs age man, like a lot of s--- that sounds good now won't sound as nice 10 years on, but it's a testament that even the worst songs are just above average.

Tldr it was a part of a hot new wave, appealed to pop and rap fans, and overall had very high quality

Came in with a new style and a new sound + I genuinely love the music. So many songs on there that I still listen to today.

Like other people are saying, he brought something new to the table.

He was also saying a lot of things other rappers weren't. And not just the Jesus stuff, he was talking about poverty and police/government corruption on radio hits. Something other rappers weren't able to pull off as easily was getting a serious message into a song, without it sounding like gangster rap.

At least that's how I see his initial impact on the game. Now he's something completely different (which again, can't be said about most rappers)

I felt the same way about this tape for a while. I always enjoyed it but not to the extent like other individuals on here. Than as it aged it just kept growing on me. The production the rapping the entirety of the tape aged like fine wine to become the classic it is. By no means would i deem this Kanyes best tape but i put it 3rd behind MBDTF and LR. It has the edge of Yezzus for me. CD has to so many classic tracks and one of the best rap sons ever in Never Let Me Down. Kanye has the best discography of anyone in the game. Its near flawless.

if anything 808s is his worst produced album, that's because he was experimenting with different sounds I guess.. but still
