Nov 6, 2015 So for the last few weeks I've been seeing these posters around. This one especially. There's also this one. There's a commercial for it as well. How do you feel about these ads? Who would you help?
Nov 6, 2015 f--- I misunderstood what "helping" the guy was. Anyway, great ads. We need that kind of stuff more.
Nov 6, 2015 >if you don't stop somebody from doing something you're just as guilty when will this meme die?
Nov 6, 2015 In this scenario you should say something to the friend to convince him to not pursue her. If she has to be taken advantage of...it shouldn't even be worth it
Nov 6, 2015 I would calmly talk my friend out of doing anything with the drunk girl... after he leaves the scene I'd smash the drunk girl.
Nov 6, 2015 Why would a girl get drunk alone at a party? I'm not justifying it, but you've got to take precautions in life. Showing up to a party alone and getting hammered is not a very good idea if you're a female. ...but the whole date-r--- drug thing, if I saw that I'd speak up for sure.
Nov 6, 2015 That's where it becomes a double standard because men are able to go out, get stupid wasted, and not even have to think twice about anyone trying to stick something up their booty hole... Not to mention, r--- happens to people who are sober AND people who are drunk. To highlight the fact that she was drunk places the blame on her as if she went to the party and asked to be taken advantage of. No one. Asks to be taken advantage of.
Nov 6, 2015 No, you're not wrong, but here's the thing: Say I walk down the street in rural Detroit with a cane made of solid gold, am I not putting myself at a higher risk of being robbed? You have to be smart in life. Is it fair that women have to worry about being r---d when drunk? No, it isn't, but life isn't fair. Nothing is fair. If you get drunk, alone, around a bunch of horny drunk guys, you didn't think things through. Plain and simple.
Nov 6, 2015 I do get what you're saying, that's why it's important for people to speak up and say something. I'll say this I was at a party once and there was a young girl who had gotten sloppy drunk and her friends had left the party to get some food..(she didn't come alone). Her friends hadbt returned for awhile and the party was beginning to die down. She ended up in the bathroom passed out butt naked on the toilet while a group of guys gawked at her and were trying to take pics and s---. So i made the decision to stay there with her until her friends got back because I didn't know what would have happened to her... I think its our responsibility as humans to protect each other, not blame each other.
Nov 6, 2015 It's not blaming. I just don't agree that it's anybody elses responsibility. Women are adults, they aren't children. We aren't supposed to have to look out for their well being 24/7. You did a good thing though, helping that girl.
Nov 6, 2015 If by taking advantage of you mean raping somebody who passed out, then yeah, that isn't happening lol.
Nov 6, 2015 You're basically making excuses for bad behaviour. I get how you're trying to solve this issue by letting girls change their behaviour.. but imo another preventive approach would be to take a collective stance against men who can't control themselves.
Nov 6, 2015 How do you avoid r---? A: Not be vulnerable at any time (drunk, alone, etc) B: Expect men everywhere to have your back at all times Which seems like a more realistic approach? Not saying no guy would help, that's not true - but why put yourself at risk? You're not stopping r---, r--- has existed forever, be real here. No amount of progressive ads or fundraising or wristbands will stop a r--ist. It's a nice thought, though.
