    Alright so I've been watching a lot of prank / give back to the homeless type videos on YouTube these past few weeks and it really has me wondering? What do you do that benefits the homeless if anything? I currently am in probably one of the best financial states I have been in my entire life and I am in a better place then most.

    So I would like to say if the vibe was decent from the homeless person I would help them out but I just don't see my trust level being high enough in a lot of cases. I do how ever understand that most average families are living from paycheck to paycheck and a simple loss of a job could throw everything for a loop but I also understand that some of these people are alcoholics or druggies ect ect.

    So seriously what would you guys do? and why would you help them or why wouldn't you help them?

    the homeless people here are very aggressive, I don't give them a dime

    i dont do s--- since most of them heroine addicts w serious criminal records (atleast the ones ive come into contact with)

    I'd buy them food, water, something like that, but I'd never give the homeless people around here even a dime in cash.

    The town I live in has nothing but m--- heads so I am always sketch giving anyone money but homeless people more so..
    That's good that you help them out! I am sure Karma will repay you very nicely someday!

    nothing, i don't see any of them with me barely leaving my apartment when I'm not working, and I don't have anything to really give back anyways

    Well i'm pretty d--- poor myself so i don't donate money, but if i'm walking out of a restaurant with leftovers and I see one, I'll give them the food

    TIL drug addicts are subhuman.

    It makes much more sense to give your cash to someone who's going through heroin or crack (or even alcohol) withdrawals than to keep him/her in that state of torture out of some misguided sense of morality. Many homeless people are alcoholics/drug addicts but that doesn't make them any less deserving of our help. No one grows up wanting to be a junkie. If someone ends up on the streets shooting up then something has gone horribly wrong somewhere down the line and they need our empathy and support more than ever, not our judgement and derision.

    I never see homeless people around here, I think they mostly are in the big cities

    I would drop a couple of coins if they're playing music or doing something talented, or even if they have a dog; that triggers me. But if they come up to me and beg aggressively I wouldn't give them anything. Had some guy force me to an ATM once.

    I ask for my friends and family to donate clothes and basics to the homeless around the holidays, I do the same.

    Depends what sort of homeless person. If it's a weak frail older person I will show sympathy

    If it's a young drunk guy I will spit in his face

    Well as someone who used to be homeless, and hang out with the homeless, I can usually tell who needs help and who does not. Times are tough for everyone so its not hard for everything to fall apart and end up on the streets. Family and friends can only help so much when they are trying to get by themselves. I did beg for money for drugs when I was homeless and I was able to get high and eat good daily. Keep in mind that people on the streets can make hundreds of dollars a day if they want to, I did.

    These days I make great money and if I have a couple loose dollars on me i'll hook up a bum. I could careless what they want it for. I actually took in one of my homeless buddies and made him my maintenance man where I work, gave him a room an everything. s--- is hard, especially under Obama so don't be so harsh on the the homeless if they show respect.

    Homeless people because i am broke and selfish, im not gonna morally justify it like other people here cause thats r-----ed.
