Dec 30, 2014 "They're being used by the machines!" Yeah, this guy sounds like he knows what he is talking about
Dec 31, 2014 eminem dont care what that washed up has-been has to say. he sounds like a jealous old b----
Dec 31, 2014 its gotten to a sad point where people started to compare macklemore and eminem. Back in 2003, a thought of comparing these 2 would be laughable. Its passable now tho.
Dec 31, 2014 Because Eminem is exactly the same artist as Macklemore. They use the same formula in their music. It's not too hard to believe.
Dec 31, 2014 Yeah, but Em is still a bigger artist than Macklemore will ever be, probably. In terms of influence, recognition, fan base, recognition among other popular hip hop heads. And it's not just about quality of music. Eminem turned himself into a cult. I mean he has been in this game for what 15 years now. All that drama that happened in his life (Proof death, Overdose, mom/wife beefs, leaving, then coming back, oscar and so on) and that it was so publicly open for everybody, moved him to whole another level. No matter how s--- of a music he drops lately, there will be tons of people who will scream AOTY, best song of the year, and so on. Not like its a great product, it is just Eminem. (I mean, i've seen people here who enjoyed Fack for what it was). Macklemore on pther side, is more of a pop artist.(Not saying Em is not). Macklemore just from the very beginning established himself that way. I honestly think he is a one hit wonder. We've seen a lot of people come and go. Eminem has been releasing boring music for 5 years now after a 6 year hiatus, still big.
Dec 31, 2014 You can list all of this - but as you said, Eminem's career is 15 years deep; Macklemore is just starting out. What Eminem has done throughout his career cannot be compared to someone who's still reeling singles of their first full-length album. I don't see how his personal life makes a difference to anything. He chose to make all of that public. Are you saying that there weren't glimpses of a Hip-Pop artists on Slim Shady LP? Marshall Mathers LP? The Eminem Show? As far as their take on music goes, they've both made their genuine target audience clear from the beginning. Macklemore is on the way to establishing himself. He's got the right demographic that actually buys music, and his music actually has staying power. To call him a one-hit wonder is just absurd seeing as he's had three multi-platinum singles off his first platinum album.
Dec 31, 2014 Yes, he did, and it actually helped him alot in terms of popularity. People love personal stories. He probably hates it now, but it made him - who he is today, one of the biggest names in hip hop culture. I am not really that educated in hip hop, I know you are. You probably know a lot of rappers who are far more talented than Em right now, but not that popular. So Em, when he was starting had skills, enjoyable voice, he is white. He expresses his personal live publicly, and creates a perfect image of how to become a successful entertainer. You probably right, I don't know. Time will show. Anyway, you were on DSB right?
