Oct 30, 2015 I feel that most songs are a plead to be liked again by fans. Those who were put off by 808's and his Bush and Taylor remarks. It has the least interesting subject matters of any Ye album. The songs and sounds are like he said, little innovative and mostly focussed on doing exactly what fans expect. "Coloring within the lines" as Ye stated in the SHOWstudio interview. Musically they're not bad at all but they just lack the forward thinking/timelessness of most other Ye records... The influence of this album remains to be seen and i find Lost In The World BY FAR better than the often praised tracks Runaway and DIAND. Maybe it's because of my personality or something but i like songs with unfiltered honest emotion > over > songs with a traditional / theatrical / fake dramatic theme.
Oct 30, 2015 it rly is tho it all just boils down to the value everyone attributes to certain things, and whether your values aligns with the majority's if it doesn't, you either think a lot of people are over/underrating things, if it does, you think the people who don't rate it like you do just don't get it or something... but it doesn't really mean anything other than people having differing tastes on a wildly subjective thing like music
Oct 30, 2015 I'm not debating if people can like things, i'm curious whether they can back up why it's better than other works.
Oct 30, 2015 that's because you have nothing better to do than discuss how much you don't like something or try to find a way to get people to change their opinions to suit yours. I knew you had made a thread about it the second I saw this: which was shortly followed by this:
Oct 30, 2015 i didn't say you were even if people give reasons, once again, if it's not lining up with what you already think you're unlikely to be swayed. same as anyone else rly
Oct 30, 2015 I'm not necessarily here to be swayed, i'm just here to learn about people's views and see whether they can agree with my p.o.v.
Oct 30, 2015 Well I don't agree. Nothing about MBDTF screams 'look at me old fans, see how cool i am' or whatever you were saying about it in the OP, and the emotion in the vast majority of tracks sounds sincere to me
Oct 30, 2015 Okay imma be a bit blunt just to make my POV extra clear (i still love the songs, especially the music): Isn't Runaway the epitome of an (insincere) apology ? What do Monster, All of The Lights have that you consider genuine emotion except for bragadoccio and superficial statements? DIAND is a bunch of funny quirky one-liners and Rick doing the same old a little more eloquently.. HOAL is more of a genuine confession, so i consider it good.
Oct 30, 2015 you're state things like their value to you is the only one they can offer to anyone and not like you just don't feel they're sincere while I do. and also like that's the only value in the songs to me that would elevate a song to 'good' or beyond in my eyes.
Oct 30, 2015 I can elaborate, just point out where i am illogical/incorrect. A song is good when it's enjoyable.. i've tried to explain in OP how certain things (facts to me) obscure me from enjoying it.
