Jul 22, 2015 with @Kvp187 Dude had nearly 100k people in the crowd apparently, and it was live as f---. He did almost the entire GKMC album, and then a few joints from TPAB (Alright, i, King Kunta). The crowd was lit b, it was crazy to see like 30,000 of the (supposedly) 80-100k people there know nearly every word to his joints. He went back and did ADHD to close off the set , and then gave away a pair of his new reeboks too. He would repeat his choruses for the more mellow tracks at the end and layer them with drums to get the crowd more and more lit too. A lot of people got frustrated with that, but that s--- was dope to me. Anyways I say all that to say that Drake stinks , Kendrick has slotted back to the top of my "artists I stan" list. whew, if you've never seen him live, please do yourself a favour and go. Even if it means driving 12 hours through the mountains like it did for me.
Jul 22, 2015 word, after the show, I was just comparing Kendrick's set to Drake and Coachella - and I know that's unfair given that I saw one live and one on video. But every outlet that saw Drake live at Coachella said that the set was forced and unengaging too. @WPG's buddy was there too and said the same thing.
Jul 22, 2015 Kendrick was lit as f---, dude has ridiculous control over the crowd. I didnt like how he repeated the chorus of so many songs because he couldve done other songs in that same time frame. This was my second time seeing him at pemberton and hes gotten a lot better live. Him and J cole had the two best performances at the festival imo. s--- was goat.
Jul 22, 2015 I once had the pleasure to sre him as well during the GKMC worldtour and to keep it short, it was dope as f---. First track: the intro of The Art of Pressure and then the dark part began... Holy s---, the crowd couldn't stop vibing after that. Back then, he played everything everything from GKMC plus some O.D. stuff like P&P. Seeing a few live videos nowadays makes me feel like his performances have got even better. 'Your career ain't s--- unless you got some Kendrick in it.' Same goes with festivals and concerts. I'm glad the 12 hour drive was worth it for you @Mike Tyson
Jul 22, 2015 I mean, I got to see an entire music festival as well as Kendrick, so I can't entirely accept that compliment.
Jul 22, 2015 I was at the show also, his set was dope but don't be so quick to say Drizzy stinks.. I'm gonna see how he compares in Squamish in 2 weeks.
Jul 22, 2015 Not really bro, I hate pulling my phone out during shows since I always feel like I'ma get bumped and drop it lol. But I found this - this is what he came out to (Money Trees). Just watch it till 20-25 seconds, you can see him layer the drums to pull the crowd in. f---ing unreal bro, next time he stops by Dubai you should make the drive to see him if work/family/schedule allows it.
Jul 22, 2015 you from Van bro? I wish I could go to Squamish, but I can't handle 2 festivals so close to each other. @Kvp187 might go to Squamish too.
Jul 22, 2015 Word that intro sounds like it would give me chills. P&P too, wow. This was our outro btw
Jul 22, 2015 Yeah I'm from Van so it's nice having these two fesitvals especially over the last few years they've stepped their lineups up huge. I like Squamish since it's closer so I can choose a day as opposed to the whole fesitval. Gonna see Drake and Rocky on the Saturday night.
Jul 22, 2015 Fun fact: the concert back then was the first time I listened to P&P in general and man, that was so f---in' chilled. I wished he'd play it another time in order to better vibe along. Too many cool memories. We gotta meet up with @Koolo and see Kendrick live in Dubai
Jul 23, 2015 Was at Pemby too. Crowd was f---ing hype for Kendrick. More-so than last year, but he was delayed like 40 minutes last year.Mostly the same set list besides TPAB, and 2 presidents. But was f---ing dope though. edit And wait a minute Hasman we were BOTH at pemby and didn't say what up tho.
Jul 23, 2015 I was close to going, but I couldn't justify it after Bonnaroo. Two of my buddies went and said it was great though. Set sounds pretty similar to Bonnaroo's though he also brought out Anna Wise for These Walls. I dig the repeating of choruses like @Mike Tyson said. I've seen Kendrick three times now and he's played f---in' Problems twice in a row each time lol. Still kicking myself for not seeing him when I had the chance right after S80 came out. The only pre-GKMC stuff I've heard him play is p---- and Patron and ADHD.
Jul 23, 2015 He did bring out YG Hootie for Two Presidents which was pretty dope. Even though 90% of the crowd had no idea who came out.
Jul 23, 2015 sounds like a great show, he did the exact same at wireless when I was there a few weeks back adhd was crazy, kendrick's live performances are underrated
