Dec 30, 2015 It's time to leave 2015 behind I've been there from Day no. 1. Yes MMLP is great, we get it. Please get over it already. But I've been contented with pretty much everything he's put out since 2010. Mmlp2 is a solid album 2 of his contributions on ShadyXV were amazing ( Guts over fear, Psychopath killer ). His 2 main features in 2015 ( Medicine Man & Best friend ) are nothing but fantastic. Not sure how you can miss this. Is 'a------' (MMLP2) bad ? Sure, at least songwriting-wise it's terrible (not skill-wise). But so is Drips (TES). Who gives a s--- about singular songs. Adressing the myth of Eminem's new flow This is litereally the most inaccurate thing I've seen around here. Stop saying flow as in singular. He doesn't have one flow, he has an extremely wide range of flows that have been displayed all across MMLP 2 and his new songs like Guts over Fear. He does the speedy thing only if the song calls for it. Let me quote ganjakush "the difference is that he exploded into a gigantic diversity of unique flows. He rides each beat differently in my opinion, depending on the drums and other instruments in the production" "How can you put all Eminem's flows into one category when they are all fundamentally different flows? It makes no logical sense. He flows differently on nearly every single beat he raps on. what f--- are you talking about when you say "his 2015 flow" if there are at least seven different flows he's used this year?" So has Eminem fallen off ? Maybe he has. He's gone from pretty much undisputed (2003) to amazing/very good. That's a very good problem to have if you ask me. Stop comparing him to the 8 mile/Lose yourself era. No rapper can be compared to that time. It's just that people are so used to him being so great & this unstopabble force back then. Let me rephrase this : Other veteran rappers can only dream of being this good after so many years. That's the blatant truth. Nobody expects greatness anymore from Snoop, Nas or Jay. Can you blame them ? No, they are 20 years in, their status is cemented anyway. So is Em's. But the difference is he's still going hard in 2015. His passion is unmatched. I don't want him to rap all the time like he did back then, I love what he's currently doing. And btw I don't want too much Dre or Melman production anymore. Dre didn't even produce Compton and I didn't like the beats on Relapse ( I know you disagree with me on this one but this is not what the thread is about). Anyway, if Em releases a solo album I don't like, I'll be the first one to call bs like I did with Relapse. But I know there are people who like that s---. I hated that album so much, it's not even funny. If Em still rapped like he did in '99, I probably woudn't be listening to him anymore. He's evolved very well. A man who's the same at 40 as he was at 20 has clearly done something wrong. And btw I love the verses on The monster and the beat ain't bad either. The narrow-mindness of some Hip Hop fans is incredible, I know because I used to be like this myself. It's a little poppy, so what ? LTWYL wasn't good though, I can't relisten to that song. But it was supposed to be this massive hit, so who cares. DIscuss
Dec 30, 2015 Lyrically he has fallen off that is a fact But i don't care about Lyricism like that i care about Song Writing and Eminem is the best Song Writer and makes the most catchy songs in his genre
Dec 30, 2015 Couple things, 1. MMLP2 is NOT a masterpiece, and i liked it 2. He doesn't need to make every song a challenge to the listener with his flow. We don't care if he looks at his rhymes as "Puzzles", we want him to focus on the impact of what he's saying 3. He has fallen off, but he could make a musical comeback.
Dec 30, 2015 Let me disagree with you Couple things 1.It's not to you. It is to others 2. He doesn't. The content is way more intriguing than it used to be on Relapse for instance 3. No need for a 'comeback'vin terms if quality. He's evolved greatly
Dec 30, 2015 @trivio just sounded like I'm talkin' in the OP. Couldn't agree with u more. And yes MMLP 2 is masterpiece.
Dec 30, 2015 there is nothing remotely creative about taking a cookie cutter hook, ignoring the beat almost entirely, and slapping 3 verses in which the last bar leads in to the chorus on to the song. stop.
Dec 30, 2015 That's why I called it that way I want his fans to specifically (by naming songs for instance) tell me why this myth has appeared. Also I'm tired of people proclaiming he fell off when I clearly think he hasn't.I want to understand everybody's perspective
Dec 30, 2015 He does not ignore the beat for the most part And he's always done the'Leading into the chorus thing' (sslp, mmlp, tes) This is what I mean by being typically selective.
Dec 30, 2015 He used to make great music, now he makes mostly average or bad music with a few gems. That's my perspective. And its not a myth since 90% of the posters here agree. Some are a little more harsh, sure, but almost everyone agrees he fell off.
Dec 30, 2015 No, he hasn't I don't remember him yelling on going through changes, beautiful pain, groundhog day, legacy, rhyme or reason. And I can name many songs more if you want. Btw, what songs do you like from him if I may ask?
Dec 30, 2015 Well I disagree, I like some of his new stuff way more than his old stuff. But you're stating your opinion in a way one can only respect.
Dec 30, 2015 Nobody says it's wrong to like some of his newer stuff. I like some of it too. But I think it's weird that everyone agrees that he fell off, but you say it's a 'myth'.
Dec 30, 2015 They don't. This site is not representive of everybody's opinion. I have constant debates with friends and people that wouldn't agree that he's bad now. And like I said, he's still great at least imo. It's just that some people are used to him being this kinda unstoppable force back in 2002 which is where I think this discrepancy comes from That was my main point
Dec 30, 2015 saying Eminem fell off is like saying Kanye is a good rapper. It's a lie. Eminem in many ways is much better than he use to be. He just changed. He's still the GOAT
