Feb 20, 2015 Hi guys. I see that the Eminem section is full of threads like "Eminem sucks", "He is not the same", "Encore > ShadyXV" and blablabla. Well, this is the thread where you can say what you think in general of modern Eminem, your popular and unpopular opinions about his music, what you think about his Post-Relapse records, what do you want from him to do in the future, etc This thread was created so the Eminem section can stop getting so much threads about the same subject matter. Lets compare the amount of pages of each artist section: Kendrick Lamar 6 pages Drake 4 pages Kanye West 2 pages J. Cole 2 pages Eminem 13 pages See? Now, my thoughts about modern Eminem: I think MMLP2 was a pretty good album and i also think that he is still the most technical (Dont confuse with "Lyrical") rapper alive. His rhyming, flow, structure, cadence and even his production skills are still impressive. Talking now about the lyrical and musical aspects, i see he is having some problems. First of all, his wordplay in ShadyXV was a lil bit weird and got some really questionable puns. Which is strange since his wordplay on MMLP2 was for the most part really good and in the Cypher he did also a good job. The storytelling aspect is in my opinion the worst one. He cant manage to tell a story like in the past. Even Bad Guy got some narration problems. Die Alone is one of the worst cases, corny and vague, basically repeating the same subject matter but talking about the mentioned subject in a pretty lame way, almost looking like a Internet rapper which just broke up with his girlfriend and started writting piss off some rhymes. Another problem: Mixing and some production aspects. I said that the production skills of Eminem are impressive, yeah, but in Shady XV some beats where really meh. For example, i am not a fan of the Detroit Vs. Everybody beat or the Right For Me beat. Even MMLP2 also got some ones that i didnt enjoy that much like Legacy or So Much Better. And the mixing aspect is also a big problem in the ShadyXV album, which is something unforgivable for a guy with so much experience in the game. So for me, Eminem needs to work again in his wordplay in general, punchlines, storytelling skills, talk about other f---ing subject matters, focus his flow, get a more consistent production in his records, collaborate with more rappers and overall, just learn from his prime. Do i think that modern Eminem is a bad rapper? No. Modern Eminem is a pretty good rapper. But of course he is not even the shadow of what prime Eminem was. Comment people!
Feb 20, 2015 I wouldnt say most technical.. Eminem could never rap like this effortlessly no matter how he hard he tried
Feb 20, 2015 Nah, R.A imo is a wack lyrical myracle rapper, just like most part of the Underground community.
Feb 20, 2015 Dont get me wrong i heard a lot of R.A, he is pretty overrated by the Underground community.
Feb 20, 2015 well, i am curious to know what "technical" Eminem tracks you are talking about. Because we must both have a different definition.
Feb 20, 2015 Read the post and you would see what is my definition of technical. Right For Me, ShadyXV, his verse on Psycopath Killer, etc are good examples of songs that are impressive when we are talking about the technical aspect. But as you would see in the rest of the post, i also criticize Eminem a lot in other aspects.
Feb 20, 2015 How are those songs any different then the miracle lyrical thing your criticizing other rappers for. He says nothing of relevance in any of those songs, just a bunch of random s--- and every aspect of his flow so wrong. I Guess i have a hard time understanding this whole hes so technical argument. Since no one can ever explain in clear words what so technical about his new material.
Feb 20, 2015 if you'd like, define technical and I'll explain how eminem is the best at whatever you say
Feb 20, 2015 Lol ra is good but cmon. Eminem IS technical rap. Hes on another level.. Too the point that its annoying haha. Like he's overly technical. He should def work on the musical aspect if he wants to ever rival his first three (but IMO that won't happen, it would be nearly impossible as the bar was set stupid high). But like the op said, he's a veerrryy good rapper. He just doesn't have much to talk about these days, or at least much he's willing to talk about. His punchlines are 5050 for me these days, some are cringeworthy corny and the others are good. It seems to me he's gone with a cypher style, which is cool - but he's not gonna get the respect as an artist he once did that way.
Feb 21, 2015 I respect your opinions man. Music listeners now judge modern Eminem's music and say he s----d. Eminem now is much more technical than the one I already knew 10 years ago. You can notice it clearly in Vegas with technical flow but it ain't the big deal cuz his rhyme scheme is still good. modern Eminem bust a rhyme, freestyle it over the beats of himself or other fav producers. I only can say Eminem in Relapse era with perfect and amazing rhyme schemes, Stay Wide Awake for example but modern Eminem also doesn't let me down. He still rhyme as the way he used to, the original corny way like pop flop sop chop flick flock...but he also combines ingeniously cadence, rhymes and flow. this's in his genre. I always doubt that Right For Me is a freestyle( Rap God is a freestyle) Ok. this verse: '' I can keep getting my a--- kicked, I’m coming back Like a sarcastic crumpled sack of s---, still mad Disgruntled had some struggles yeah But that passionate hunger's back The fantastic juggling act And the way I flip my tongue on the track It's like verbal acrobatics But in fact Last time I tried to pull off a dramatic stunt as drastic I f---in' crashed my hovercraft After I strapped the duffel bag to my back And stuck the massive punchin' bag in it An elastic bungee strap, proper plaster, a thumb tack And a piece of plastic bubble wrap Went spastic and f---in' snapped Jumped and splashed in a puddle of battery acid Stumbled back, recovered, back flipped And landed on a gymnastic tumble mat And for my last trick, lunge on back lash On a NASA shuttle flap, f---in' snapped the rudder in half Chuckled and laughed, buttaled my last rebuttal And just asked him to come crash And I grab my Go-Go-Gadget inflatable gigantic humongous mattress And ceramic construction hat Rubbed my magic mushroom tat Fell off then splat, get up from that Face taped to a waste paper basket Throw up then gas, lungs collapse And that's more likely than finding someone that's '' he spitted this s--- in modern Eminem's flow but i found the Slim Shady's thing in the bold lines, a bit of Slim Shady's flow in it, esp at '' face taped to a waste paper basket''. Listen to it again and you may notice. Listening to modern Eminem, i focus on his lyrics, the content, and the beats, rhyme schemes than his story telling skills. but Bad Guy is pretty great. the sequel of Stan is outstanding, it's a story but he told it through his rhymes, not in a direct way>Metaphor. Em's beats don't catch my ears much, esp in SHADYXV, he's exe prod. He's now doing in the right way, working with other rappers than ending up being in any pop projects. And special honour to Don't Front. its too much awesome. its unique, never think of he could have the flow like that. About wordplay, i have no idea cuz i think J. Cole is somehow better than him even though he uses lots of complex words and make them rhyme. And i think Em should learn Kendrick from the structure of the songs. Modern Eminem is good to me. MMLP2 is classic. he almost reaches his peak again but shadyxv is such a flop, and its even worse with the label '' compilation album'' when people almost listen his tracks, even RIAA announced SHADYXV Eminem Silver, not Various Artists Silver. Modern Eminem is still a good rapper. i hope to hear new songs from him, new inspiration.
