There's talk going on in the Vince staples/Lord jamar thread, and I'm curious as to what the board thinks was the better era for hip hop, so.. Which is it and why?

I mean, this is a dead-end question and always has been. The '90s had a higher density of classic albums, esp. on major labels; the mid-2000s (basically 2004-09) were kind of a singles-oriented time in a way that didn't play well with old heads, ironically. So probably the '90s. The real question is how you'd rank the 80s, 90s, 00s, and 10s.

All music was better in '90s.

I just heard Third Eye Blind's "semi charmed life" today... and remembered that it was considered a fluffy pop single in '97. The song rocks hard and is about a complicated exciting destructive relationship filled with hard drugs and sex.

In the 90's people were smarter and experienced life more... we had better taste and demanded way better, more complicated and more meaningful music.

Most of you millennials are stupid, lazy and idled by video games and s-----y television and social networking. Your music is terrible.

Whoever is saying 2010's is the best...who is better than Biggie, Nas, Tupac, Raekwon, Ghostface, Rakim, Snoop (doggystyle), Ice Cube, Redman, Outkast, Wu-Tang, Jay-Z, A Tribe Called Quest, Big Pun... probably missing a lot off the top of my head but intrigued
