Why are 2Pac and Biggie the consensus best rappers?

Like literally they are both almost always in the top 2 oat by the average rap fan who probably wasnt alive when they were out. Is it because they died? If you ask me Nas is better than 2Pac. Biggie doesn't have enough catalog to be the best ever imo. Nas even inspired Me and My Girlfriend but i don't see Nas as the GOAT either. Why are Pac and Big almost always 1 and 2?

Because they are the most well known and praised from the 90s... by a lot of people and people bandwagon
I think they are both top 10 tho. Nas>both imo

Big is literally the best writer to ever live, small discography or not. And Pac is top 10 at least. It's just credit where it's due tbh

Biggie is in my top 5, Pac is in my top 20. I guess it's a cultural thing, rap isn't the oldest genre out there and when it hit it's first (well, maybe second) peak, Pac and Biggie were in the spotlight.

Why does catalog matter? Biggie was the best. The best flow. He rhymed and spoke with such intensity and purpose. The greatest story teller. Gritty. Violent. Smooth as silk. Blended RnB and gangsta rap, told incredible stories fictional and otherwise in his songs. No weakness to his game.

He's the best of all time in my opinion, no debate to be had.

Well discography matters alot imo, because I judge an artist on how much enjoyable content they have. Biggie died to early and only had 2 albums, wich made it unfair because you couldn't see if he would have fallen off or flopped with albums. And because biggie got not many albums, you can overplay his songs to much, while with other artist you can listen to very different albums of them all the time.

Pac's easily the GOAT to me, Biggie was great too. Pac was an interesting person as well though, not just as a rapper.

Biggie mastered every element of rapping at such a young age and short time in the game. He's probably the greatest rapper of all time. He's timeless. You could throw him on the production we hear today and it would still sound fresh.

    :daps:

    Totally agree with the above

Biggie is not the same as every other rapper

He's of his own category, his own proficiency and skill. Unbelievably good at everything.
